About the Intel 8080:
“The 8080 reallycreated the microprocessor market. The 4...004 and 8008 suggested it, but the 8080made it real.”- Federico Faggin. The Intel 8080 was designed by Faggin, whoalso designed the Intel 4004. While the 4004 and 8008 might have lacked some ofthe key features for building a general purpose microcomputer, the 8080 didnot. In fact, the 8080 was selected for use in the Altair 8800, the firstwidely successful microcomputer. The 8080’s instruction set, memory, I/O, andinterrupt capabilities set the standard for the microprocessor industry. Want to see more AntiqueTech items?
