Nikon F5 W/ Rare MN - 30Ni - MH Battery Pack & Quick Charger MH - 30. &.
Item History & Price
(1) Nikon F5 body (S.N. 3136521). It has DP30 Prism Finder (S.N. 3569119). The built-in vertical grip uses an included DN-30 rechargeable NiMH battery pack (12V 1150mAh).
(2) Nikon Quick Charger MH-30 (S.N. 96120091). Input: 100-240V 50/60 Hz 22W Output: DC 14.5V 0.8A. There are two ports to refresh/charge two MN-3...0 battery packs at the same time. The AC power cord is included.
I spent some time this afternoon to check and test the F5 body and included battery pack. The following are my findings:
Cosmetically, I found one small area of the top of DP30 finder lost the black paint and one rubbing mark at top right side. The viewfinder window frame shows some edge brassing and tiny dings. On the bottom plate, I discovered one small area had lost the black paint. The rest of body including leatherette covers is in very clean shape. The MN-30 battery pack is also quite clean. The MH-30 quick charger is in near mint condition. The hot shoe metal bracket has user signs.
Mechanically, the shutter speeds sound correct after I used the dial to change from fast to low speeds. The shutter button of the built-in vertical grip works as it should. The ISO & BKT adjustments as shown at rear side built-in vertical grip work as designed.
Optically, Looking through the view finder window, I could only detect six very short and tiny dust particles. It's a nice feeling to have clean and wide screen for viewing. The LCD window of the main body and LCD window of the vertical grip are clean without scratches. The return window has no damage and is quite clean. The window on the left side of film back has no cracks.
Electronically, the LED readings on both screens are perfect clear. The exposure meter works and the information showing inside the prism finder is clear. No bench test is performed to confirm the accuracy. The MH-30 quick charger works excellently on both "Refresh" & "Charge" modes. The MN-30 NiMH battery pack can be charged and retain the charge very well. According to my record, on 06/20/2020 the MN-30 was fully charged to 13.6V. On 08/30/2020 it read 12.8V. I measured it again on 09/28/2020, it read 12.7V.A knowledgeable ebayer emailed me after he discovered from images #4 & #6 that the AF button on the built-in vertical grip was missing. I then attached a Nikon AF 24/2.8 lens to the F5 body and used the shutter button of the grip to check the AF function. It worked excellently without the AF button being depressed.
Although the F5 is in excellent running condition, no film test is performed.
