Rare Custom Reynolds 531 Trek 760 Road Frame, Fork Set, Campagnolo Dropouts
Item History & Price
This frame is a Trek 760 from 1983. Made with full Reynolds 531C, from the seat- and chain-stays to the fork blades (the pictured decals were added after a repaint and are technically incorrect; the catalog scan in the last image gives some clarification). The 760 was o...ne of Trek's three flagship bikes; one for each of the popular high-end steel tubesets of the day. The 760 was 531, the 970 was Columbus SL, and the 170 was Reynolds 753.
This particular frame was modified at some point during its life. Instead of the traditional housing guides running down the center of the top tube, this bike has internal routing for the rear brake. It is clear that this modification was made by a professional framebuilder, since it looks factory original. The bike was likely repainted at this point too, hence the non-OEM decals and shade of blue.
