The decoration was first authorized in 1905 on the 40th Anniversary of the Civil War's end. This medal was awarded to a family relative who served from 1861-1865 in the 26th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry. * Condition: Authentic USED complete with a blue/grey... ribbon drape, partially torn but complete. The medal itself is made from what is called red brass, which is an alloy of 85% copper with remainder zinc.
