Original Description:
Very Rare Franklin Refurbished ACE 1200 Complete Computer System Apple Clone
WORKING     TESTED      CLEAN
The ACE 1200 is more rare then the 1000 series.  There was a lot of effort put in to make this computer operational, clean, and working.
This is a great condition Franklin ACE 1200 Apple II clone computer.  It is very rare computer as it comes with the matching monitor DM12P505  and external hard drive Data X ...10. The computer boots from floppy to DOS normally. Both floppy drives appear to be fully functional. The screen is clear and sharp, with no burn-in.  The hard drive also seems to be functional with the installed SCSI card, but I do not have to software to test. All units have been disassembled.  All case and plastic parts washed and cleaned. All PCB’s were blown dusted free, and any socketed IC’s reseated.  All internal cables cleaned. The floppy drive’s heads cleaned and head travel rails lightly lubricated.  Faceplates and leavers were washed and cleaned. The keyboard was disassembled, and base, switches, springs, and keycaps washed and cleaned. Then reassembled and tested with all keys appearing to work properly. Including the reset switch under the left side keyboard.  A new red power LED installed. The Franklin Hard Drive labeled was opened up and cleaned out. The HD is a Micropolis MFM 5Mb unit.  A new 50-pin ribbon cable included. The HD PSU was opened, and dusted out. The fan was cleaned. The Caps were inspected and appear to look good. The monitor was also opened and cleaned. The screen face cleaned.  The computers PSU had the safety caps replaced. The motherboard tray was also cleaned. All units have marks, dings, and small scratches. Nothing too bad, but there are many of them.  The ROM IC’s on the motherboard may not be original.  The system does not boot with the words “Franklin 1200”, but with “FCC Ver 6.0”, though the system does appear to work like any other Apple II.  Also those ROM’s seem to get loose over time.  After the computer has been shipped, the IC should be reseated by the new owner.  One of the computer interior pictures show original card setup. They are currently setup according to the online Franklin user manual.  Do not power up until internal video cable is installed or removed from inside computer per your preference.Cards included are (left to right) (see screen shot to see what ProDOS thinks is installed)Jameco EXPANDARTAM JE868 – fully populated with what looks like two rows of 64K, total 128KApple –Card Language card – Apple-Card Bootstrap V9.0   PCPI 1982Apple II Parallel Interface card (short)Franklin Video card – no model number.Franklin card – unknown what this card is for.  It has an Eprom with P2A written on top.Xebec – Apple Host Adaptor – SCSIFranklin Serial card – printer card, two ports.
The Franklin ACE 1200 is identical to the ACE 1000 (from 1982), except that the ACE 1200 has two built-in floppy drives.

The ACE 1100 has only one floppy drive.

In addition to the built-in floppy drives, the ACE 1200 includes as standard equipment (these may or may not be present on this computer) these expansion cards:80 column text card.Dual Interface Card with serial and parallel ports.video card with color capability (the ACE 1000 is monochrome).processor card with a Zilog Z-80 CPU and with 64K to run CP/M (supplied on diskette).
Being Apple II-compatible, the ACE 1200 can handle any programs that run on the Apple II
Good reasons to buy the ACE 1200:
1. Apple II-compatible
2. CP/M-compatible
3. 128K of RAM
4. Built-in floppy disk drive
5. Disk controller
6. 80 column card
7. Serial interface
8. Parallel interface

12. Numeric pad
13. Auto repeat keys
Please see photos for content and physical condition.   Do to the size and weight, I am selling as-is with no returns.  The monitor and computer will be shipped separately to minimize damage.

eBay policies leave me with no choice but to mark each of my auctions with a “no return” policy.  This is being done to protect me against returns such as (buyer’s remorse).   After using the item for days and weeks, the buyer can submit a return and is not obligated to reimburse the seller for shipping charges and I have to pay for shipping charges back.  Even though it is marked a “no return, “a buyer can still submit a return if the item was not as described or the item was damaged during shipping.  Also, I do not need an eBay policy to do what is right and accept the item back if it wasn’t as described or damaged during shipping.  Keep in mind, that I mainly sell vintage computers and vintage computer accessories.  That said even though the box/item may not show damage, the internal mechanism may have been damaged or jarred from a rough truck and/or plane ride.  I will work with ALL my customers to resolve the problem.  Recently, I have had to take back items where the buyer didn’t check with mom/dad, husband/wife, or God prior to buying and did a return.  eBay forced me to take the item back.  Personally, I do not think that this is an acceptable way to return items.  Many of the sellers on here are just trying to provide for their families and this kind of previous return is not fair to the seller.  We are not Walmart or Costco that cannot absorb these financial damages.   Again, I will work with all my costumers to ensure that they are happy with the item they purchased.  Thank you for your patronage.
