Commodore Amiga CD32 Console. Rare US / Canada NTSC Model. Boxed, Recapped
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:31107363 | Type: Console |
Brand: Commodore |
This auction is for a North American (NTSC) Commodore Amiga CD32 Console.Rare revision 1 original box with matching serial number.
The console is tested, fully working, in excellent cosmetic condition, and has just been professionally recapped with the highest quality components available (polymer caps that will never leak).
If you're not aware, "recapping" (replacing the original capacitors on the motherboard with new ones) is a must-do on the CD32 to avoid any problems due... to its age.
The box has all inserts and polys in good condition, and all accessories (as far as I can tell) :
NTSC CD32 console. Professionally recapped with high quality polymer capacitors : this service alone is worth £70 incl. shipping (and saves you the hassle of having it done).
The case has no noticeable marks or scratches, only very light signs of wear (if you look closely). Please refer to the photos.
Original 120V PSU (USA / Canada / Japan plug).
Note : if you're in a 220/240V country, this requires a voltage transformer which I'll include in the box for free (UK plug only) if you need one.
However, I would still strongly recommend using a modern replacement CD32 PSU for your country, just to be on the safe side. This PSU is working fine (tested both with the CD32 and a multimeter), but I didn't check it for days on end. Original CD32 joypad with both direction pads (the second one is still under wraps !)TV connection box (unsure if useful in a modern setup ?)Manuals (including US warranty card) I'm including a game copy on CD-R (Lost Vikings) so you can play straight away.Shipping to most countries in the world (cost displayed is approximate, contact me for an exact quote).
Bidders with <10 feedbacks, please contact me first or your bid will be cancelled.Important : by bidding you agree that you are aware this is an NTSC CD32 (not a PAL one) :
This CD32 starts in NTSC mode by default. In this mode, some original PAL games will run too fast and may crash and/or miss part of the image. Others will work fine. NTSC versions will of course all run fine. You can switch the CD32 to PAL mode by connecting an Amiga mouse (not included) and pressing both buttons at boot time, which will show a menu. When you do that, PAL games will run at the correct speed and without glitches.Your TV/monitor/HDMI setup needs to support NTSC to use the console in NTSC mode (most modern ones do, even in Europe).
If you boot the console in PAL mode and use the composite output (I'm not sure about S-Video), you might only get a black & white picture, because the console's composite output uses NTSC-style colour encoding even in PAL mode, which confuses some TVs.Or, simply get an RGB output expansion board ("Kipper2K riser", which you also get with accelerators such as the TF328/330). This solves all color problems and gives you the best picture on any CD32. A TF330/328 also gives you access to WHDLoad, which has many more NTSC versions of games than you could get on CD.You also have the option to solder an RGB mod, or even have the console converted to PAL forever. I'm obviously leaving this up to the buyer !
Any questions, please ask. Happy bidding !
