Very rare and original, ca1880’s Pair of Native American Cheyenne Indian Bead Decorated, Hide Moccasins.
This original Pair of late 19th century Cheyenne Moccasins each measure approx. 9 3/4" long at their stiff hide / parfleche soles. The decoration is beautiful and executed using light blue, cobalt blue, greasy yellow and translucent green colored, spot stitched beads. The Moccasins are sinew sewn and feature contiguous cuffs and sewn tongues. The soles ...are made of stiff hide and show evidence of good, honest use.
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Cheyenne Moccasins crafted in the late 19th century. This very rare and original, Pair of ca1880’s Cheyenne Indian Bead Decorated Moccasins are in good to very good condition but do have some condition issues and old, make do repairs. Both Moccasins are split at the heal and have some associated bead loss. The right hand Moccasin has an old, thread sewn repait at the heal split and also has a similar repair on the cuff as well as separation and damage to the hide at the outer edge where the upper attached to the sole. The left hand Moccasin has some minor damage to the hide at the outer edge where the upper attaches to the sole. There is some minor, scattered bead loss to the vamps and some other small tears to the very soft and supple hide uppers. Although they have condition issues from use, the Moccasins display nicely.
