Original Description:
This is a Meiji era antique (c.1910) Japanese ceramic serving plate. It has a transfer print design of peony with byobu (Japanese screen).  Around the exterior there is a scalloped edge with brown glaze.  This dish was fired in wood fired kiln at high temperatures for lasting durability.This type of dish was typically used for a main course .   It measures 9" in diameter by 1 1/8" tall (23 x 3 cm). Having been in storage for nearly over a century..., With the exception of some pre-firing cracks (from the greenware)  (see pictures 4 & 5) - (common in Meiji production pottery from this time period fired in wood fired kilns)  it remains in very good condition. A great size for serving something very special.  You'll love it, I guarantee it.........If you purchase this item and are not completely delighted with it, you may return it for a no questions asked refund within 30 days of receipt.Sailerking and the Shogun's Gallery of Portland, Oregon have been in the Japanese antique business for over 38 years, and highly value our customers.
