Chinese Antique Gilt Bronze Recumbent ‘Hound’ Form Scroll Weight, Ming / Qing dynasty
Modeled as a recumbent slender-bodied hunting dog with the head raised directly forward, flanked by a pair of dropping ears, fore paws resting and tail flicked over the right haunch, wearing a collar with a bell attachment. The piece dates to the Late Ming dynasty, although the Qing dynastydate cannot be excluded due to the rendition being carried through. Th...e original gilt has been worn away over the lifetime of various owners, revealing a quintessentialfinish.
