Matchlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths this 139 lb. Foster? Anvil. This is a anvil was made in 1881 or 1884 (see picture). The maker William Foster was one of the only makers that regularly marked the date on the anvil, so I believe it may have been made by Foster. The rebound is amazing. The edges have wear, but the face is very clean. It's a dandy little anvil. There are some faint lettering above the word "WARRANTED" above the date. The anvil is marked with t...he weight marks "1 - 0 - 27 lb. which is the English Stone Weight system which means it weighs 139 lb. and is dated 1881 or 1884.
