Antique Coffer Trunk Chest Possibly From England - Rare - Huge Carvings & Crest
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:288 | Age: Pre-1800 |
I am selling a very large antique coffer chest that I was told was from the 1600's and most likely from England. I don't know anything about it at all, or even what wood it is made out of. It contains carvings throughout and some of them are of human figures. In the front, center, there is a crest but I have been unable to determine whose. Some of the original hardware is still attached as you can see in the photo, but I believe that the hinges were removed previously. Some... of the feet were carelessly glued back together as you can also see in the photos. Nevertheless, it is clearly an extremely unique and rare item and I have never personally seen one like it. This was sitting in a barn attic for at least 50 years and we were lucky enough to get our hands on it. We were possibly going to pay someone to do a full restoration on it for us, but decided we would sell it for the right offer. We are unsure about the value, and if anyone has information that can shed light on its provenance we would appreciate it.
