The illusive 1760, many considered it their best Tradesman. It was built so well that it was the last model Wilton discontinued before going with their 1/2 sizes, Back in the day when I was a salesman for Napa, I went to alot of Municipal garages in the NW Suburbs and I was surprised that most of them had 1760's. These techs knew how to use their vises properly so holding differentials, axles, hubs etc. without damaging the vise was nor...mal for them. I never, ever heard a complaint about breakage with this vise except for maybe a pipe jaw cracking.
The 1760 and the 1765 is basically the same vise with the only difference are the jaws.
This vise came in with most of the paint missing so I wire wheeled it, cleaned it down with Brake Clean, and painted it the new Wilton Hammered Gray. This vise is 100% original and honestly, there's a chance it was never mounted. No, sanding anywhere. No cracks, welds filler, all the original surface is free from altering. . I took a scuff pad to the anvil only, Operation is smooth, no wear on the collar so response is instant. The original jaws and original pipe jaws actually look untouched aligning up perfectly. All 3 handles are near perfect with any marks. Swiveling 360 and locking down is no problem. Mechanically this vise is perfect. I added the stickers for show. Guy's, if you are looking for a beefy bullet, this 66 lb might fill the bill for your shop or make a nice graduation gift for your son, or who knows, daughter. With proper use, this vise will last many lifetimes or until the levee brakes and its washed away down the river or a EF5 Tornado picks it up and moves it to another state
