Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:2841860 |
The invitation requested "the presence of your company on Friday morning, February 25, 1881, at 8 o'clock on board the steamer Jno. W. Cannon to participate in the Grand Excursion to the Jetties tendered to the National Lancers & Charlestown Cadets of Boston, Mass., and other visiting Military Guests...." Nice illustration of the seal of New Orleans as well as the South Pass showing the East and West Jetty walls.
Extremely rare item. I've never seen another in 40 years of collecting.
The original envelope is included. It also has the seal of New Orleans printed on the back flap. The envelope was addressed to Edmond Albert, Orderly Sergeant, 71st Regiment.
Very nice condition except for a horizontal crease across the card mostly only visible on the blank reverse. No tape. No pinholes. No paper loss. Great Graphics.
The invitation card measures about 5 and one-half inches wide and about 9 and one-half inches tall.
