Original Description:
For your interest is a pair of gorgeous goblets commemorating service in an AUSTRIAN-HUNGARIAN  regiment. The inscription reads "De. 51 Jnfanterie Regiment /Anlasslich Des 50 Jahregen Bestehens/Gewidmet Von Der Stadt Neuss (Garnison1860-1864). The inscription is accompanied by an impressive royal coat of arms (AUSTRIA-HUNGARY). The goblets commemorate a series of wars fought between GERMANY/AUSTRIA-HUNGARY and a series of enemies (DENMARK) that led to the ...unification of GERMANY. The wars erupted because the Danish king died without a male heir, and the choice installed was unacceptable to Germany and Austria-Hungary The treaty led to the ceding of Schleschwig-Holstein to Germany.In addition, the pair weigh in at about 9 ounces of German silver, which is 8 out of 10 ounces pure.
