Presented is a superb quality vintage 14 karat gold and opal pin, for the Sigma
Nu fraternity. The pin is made in a five-armed star shape, with each arm bearing
the crossed swords and one of the Greek letters Sigma, Nu, Epsilon, Tau, Tau, in
white black and gold which are the organization's colors. Each arm has three
little opal cabochons, while the center has a coiled snake in gold against black
and white enamel The back of the pin is engraved with ...the name J. Y. Macintosh,
as well as Newburyport. The pin has a rollover style safety clasp, though it is
an old style.
This piece is nitric acid tested and guaranteed 14 karat gold.
The pin is in great condition. All the opals and enamel are intact. The clasp
function well and closes securely.
The pin measures about 5/8 of an inch in diameter.
The pin weighs 4.5 grams. -jm
