WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 BAYONETMarked Winchester Repeating Arms Co. on the guard.Full, bright, 8 1/4" blade retains original edge, shows in-out wear, mottling, and pitting.Some fading of original finish. Guard is tight, shows mottling, pitting, also present oninside of barrel band. Smooth walnut handles are tight, they are oiled and secured bytwo steel rivets, shows some fading, dents, and scratches. Has a crack on left sideforward of the pommel. Exposed tang shows pitting. Pommel is tig...ht, shows period wearsome pitting on the surface and in the lug groove. Attachment works fine. Comes with atype-2 metal scabbard with the body covered in black leather, has a blued throat and tip.Shows usage wear, scrapes and scratches, more pronounced at the top of the frog.All staples and sewing are intact. Marked with a "T" inside a triangle on the frog justabove the throat. Belt hook is missing. Albert Hardin's fine book, "The American Bayonet"states that only 100 of these bayonets were ever issued.Hard to find bayonet.
