You are bidding on this vintage Siegley's Adjustable Plane. This Combination Plane is marked on the side: "J. Siegley's PAT. AUG. 19, 90". I believe this is their No. 2 Combination Plane. Includes 2-8 inch rods plus the pictured brochure stating: ''This tool is a combination of a common Carpenter's Plow, Dado, Side and Centre Bead Plane. Plane is in extremely nice condition with no signs of broken pieces. Nearly 100% of finish remains, shiny metal surfaces, wood pieces are very nice. I...t would be very difficult to find a nicer example. This Plane and cutters come with the original wooden box. Wooden box has what remains of the paper label. Box is rough but is a nice add-on. From the internet research I did, This plane was originally designed and patented by Jacob Siegley in 1879 of Wilkes-Barrie, Pa. This plane was sold under the Siegley name between 1884-1901. Apparently around this time, (1901), Stanley purchased the rights to sell this plane using the Stanley name between 1901 thru 1927, there does not appear to be any Stanley markings on this plane. I believe this plane was manufactured prior to 1901. The plane is approximately10 inches long, 8 inches wide with the 8 inch rods, and 6 inches tall. This plane maintains original patina and appears complete. This plane bears the mark of Siegley (see photo). There are 16 cutters in a wooden box that accompany this plane, (see photo). I believe they are all original cutters. They are used but look to be in very good condition. Some surface rust and corrosion and hone or file marks from past sharpening. These items are from the Estate of a long time collector/user. They are being presented as found. The only clean-up I did was brush off any saw dust, grease or dirt necessary to improve on the identification marks of the item. I'll leave all clean-up, if necessary, to you. You will get them as I found them, with all the dirt, dust or grime you would expect from an old time collector. Please view all the photos and e-mail any questions you may have.
