This is a difficult one to part with, but I find myself in the enviable position of having too many planes to give them all meaningful project time. I’m looking for a good home for this one.
This is a Genuine Veritas Number 4 1/2 Smoothing Plane, from Veritas’s exquisite Custom Series. The plane is in great shape, with only usual wear. Has some nicks here and there in the Jappaning paint, some light scratches on the woodwork, and some usage marks on the sole. Nothing at all out ...of the ordinary and nothing that affects the performance of the tool. The plane is only about two years old.The plane will ship with original box and paperwork, as well as the twist handle Allen key for maintenance.There are too many features to fully list here, but my favorites are: PMV11 premium tool steel blade, Norris blade set adjuster, and an adjustable toe for rapid mouth-setting changes. This particular model is spec’ed with the multi-purpose 45 degree frog, standard Veritas knob, and medium traditional tote.Why a 4 1/2? Because it’s the quintessential hand tool for fine finishing. And, in a pinch, it can do the work of many planes.
