Very rare and stunningly beautiful, original 1880’s Native American Sioux Men’s Bead Decorated Hide Leggings.
This outstanding pair of Men’s Leggings measure approx 17” tall overall and 14” in circumference. The Leggings are sinew sewn by hand. These stunningly beautiful, Bead Decorated Sioux Leggings are made of a semi-stiff, brain tanned hide and decorated with an outstanding, stylized Tepee and geometric design using pea green, dark blue, apple r...ed white-heart, and chalk white color beads. Both Leggings retain their original, rawhide ties and the edges of the beaded panels are trimmed with a delicate border using dark blue seed beads.
This wonderful Pair of Sioux Bead Decorated Hide Leggings came to us from the Minnesota collection of Stanley L. Slocum.
The 1880’s Sioux Indian Leggings offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT a reproduction or modern recreation but original Sioux Leggings crafted in the late 19th century. The Leggings come with our “no questions asked” return privilege and our lifetime guarantee of authenticity. This rare and original, 1880’s Pair of Native American Sioux Hide Leggings are in very good condition overall. The hide elements are well preserved overall – intact and sound with no damage or repairs of any kind. The bead decoration is spot stitched and very well preserved overall with only minor bead loss as can be seen in the scans below. Both Leggings retain their original rawhide ties. The Overall the Leggings are very well preserved and display beautifully!!!
