I couldn't believe my eyes when I acquired this pipe seeing Anne Julie's signature red/white dot on the stem as I don't recall ever having or even seeing another. There is a wonderful picture on Pipedia of Anne, Lars Ivarsson, Jorne Micke and IB Loran at the Pipe Dan factory admiring their pipes. This is a remarkable piece from her, a freehand variant setter that balances perfectly on its small base. The shape I can best describe as a Poker/Dublin at heart but is shaped like a spade an...d the rim is amazing as it is formed with the front curving upwards while the rear is rounded downwards. It has nice thick walls surrounding the conical chamber with excellent capacity. It feels perfectly balanced in the hand and is quite lightweight at only 32g! The shank transitions about 1/3 of the way up the bowl and is round but has a nice carved accent feature near the bowl and tapers in the middle but gets thicker where it meets the ornate vulcanite fishtail stem in classic Danish fashion and again her signature red/white dot logo. The finish is stunning with a light natural stain while the briar displays magnificent 360 degree angel hair straight grain, truly spectacular! This is a rare Pipe Dan made by Julie and is definitely not to be missed!
