WWII RAF Battle Of Britain Flying Helmet, D Oxygen Mask & MK IIIa Goggles

For your consideration is a complete Royal Air Force Battle of Britain headgear set up. The D mask and the microphone are reproductions. Silburn / Sefton made the mask and included a rare authentic brass ring and original side snaps, which adds to the more authentic representation of the D type Oxygen mask. And the loom is also an original. I picked up the reproduction microphone from Simon Lannoy, who had a very limited number of these produced for him ( I believ...e) by a fantastic craftsman, with an amazing eye of detail. As good as the mask and microphone are, discerning collectors will see the differences and nuances as I describe above as well as through the photos. The RAF B type flying helmet is a size 2, and is 1939 dated, made by Frank Bryan. Lastly a pair of the classic RAF Mk IIIs goggles, completes the display. The B type helmet displays well, and both Bennetts buckles have the leather wrapped buckle in great condition – the leather is not peeling off, nor is the stitching coming undone. Both zips on the ear covers slide up and down easily, with the right side still having its small leather puller intact. The downside is the velvet piece on the forehead area is coming away. Fortunately this does not in any way impair the display on a head. The leather is still supple and nice on the outside of the helmet, and I could not find any signs of split seams or stitching that is coming undone. The inner chamois is worn and has been used, thus not minty and brilliant yellowish color. There is a name, Cumber, and what I believe is the airman / pilot’s RAF number of 758104 inked to the right inner side on the chamois. The Mk IIIa goggles are also in good condition with the lenses being clear, and not clouded. Of course there are the usual small scratches as happens in 70 plus years. The two small nose pieces below the air vents (both intact) are missing. Unfortunately, I am limited on the number of photos I can include via Ebay, and will endeavor to answer all questions regarding this Fighter pilot, Bomber pilot and airman’s headgear ensemble. I ship to the US, Canada and Europe. I am happy to get shipping quotes from folks outside the US, please ask. US Buyers pays US Priority Mail and media mail for books. My name is Greg Muddell and I was on Ebay for nearly 20 years using my gmudd account but it was corrupted, so I am starting with my new Churchill Leather Ebay account as well as an official Churchill Leather site.
