Original Description:
I've been collecting for over 55 years and it is now time to let most of my personal collection go.   These uniforms were acquired many years ago.  They did not come directly from the vet.  I am listing these items as collectibles.  As such, the only size information given in the description are those marked on the items.  The photos really tell the whole story so please review them carefully.  Shipping costs sh...own are for domestic delivery only.  Overseas shipping will be quite a bit more.  I use the eBay Global Shipping Program and overseas shipping costs will be included with the invoice.Offered here is a nice WW2 group of uniforms from a 1st Marine Division vet.  Most of the articles are prolifically stamped and marked "E. N. Daugherty."  Sergeant Edward N. Daugherty served with 1st Bn., 7th Marines.   EBay has a 12 photo limit so I've been judicious in the photos I've selected.  I do have other photos. The items are as follows:(1)  Australian Made Uniform Jacket:  The jacket is a standard Australian battle jacket made of brown khaki coarse wool.  This jacket is in great condition with no significant soiling, holes or moth damage.  There is one pin point sized moth nip in the Sergeant stripe on the right sleeve.  The label inside the jacket reads "N88 36 Long, Chest 36, Waist 31 Made in Australia, 1942."  There are also a couple of broad arrow stamps and a name stamp "E N DAUGHERTY" (all in caps).  The front buttons are metal dishpan type and the bottom closure buttons (2) and the cuff buttons are plastic.  The ribbon bar is as shown and is pin back.  The USMC Sharpshooter badge is sterling.  There is a truly salty screw back bronze EGA on the lapel and it is backed with what appears to be a piece of old matchbook cover and a small silver coin (Australian six pence (?).   There is an Australian made 1st Marine Division patch sewn to the left sleeve.  The patch is beautifully chained stitched to a red wool backing and sewn to the jacket.  The chain stitching has kept the patch from fraying but the wool is slightly frayed.  Sergeant chevrons are sewn to each sleeve and there is a single hash mark sewn to the bottom of the left sleeve.(2)  Shirt:  The uniform shirt is a standard USMC mustard khaki wool.  There are no size markings that I can find.  It has been stamp marked "E N DAUGHERTY" under the inside collar and also on the inside of the front tail of the shirt.  The shirt include a khaki wool USMC tie.(3) Trousers: The trousers are Australian made.  They are made of a coarse brown khaki wool.  These trousers are in excellent condition and appear to have been lightly worn.  There are no soiling, holes or moth damage that I can see.  They are button fly with metal dishpan buttons. The trousers are labeled "V9, 1942 Made in Australia."  They are also broad arrow stamp marked and "E N DAUGHERTY" stamped inside.(4) Cap # 1:  This cap is a standard khaki cotton USMC garrison cap (or piss cutter as they were fondly referred to).   The cap shows signs of use with some soiling and minor stains on the left side mostly.  There is a salty bronze screw back EGA on the left side.  There is no size marking that I can find and the inside is stamped with "E N DAUGHERTY."(5) Cap #2:  This cap is a standard USMC green wool garrison cap.  It has a fabric sweatband sewn inside.  There is a bronze screw back EGA on the left side of the cap.  There is some soiling or sweat staining to the inside of the cap and there is a very faint "E N DAUGHERTY" stamp on the sweatband.  There is no size markings that I can see.(6) USMC Dress Blue Jacket:  This is a beautiful tailor made enlisted dress blue jacket.  It is made of a fine dark blue wool with red wool piping.  There are three small wear places in the red piping down the front of the jacket but no other damages or soiling that I can see.  The inside of the jacket is lined in a brushed black cotton.  There is an inside pocket on the right with a white oilskin- type label sewn in which reads "Made Expressly For:" and typed on the label is E. Daugherty 7-2-42.  "E N DAUGHERTY" is also stamped in white ink inside the jacket.  There are Sergeant chevrons and a single hash mark on each sleeve.  There is a nice wool and embroidered 1st Marine Division patch on the left sleeve and a Cape Gloucester tab sewn below that.  The ribbons are as shown and are plastic covered.  The gold EGA's are both screw back and the sharpshooter badge is pin back.  (7) USMC Dress Blue Trousers: The trousers are also beautifully tailor made in a mid blue wool.  There is red wool NCO stripes down each pant leg.  The fly is zippered.  The trousers have a white oilskin-type label (identical to that inside the jacket) that reads: "Made Expressly For" and typed in E Daugherty.  The "a" in Daugherty looks like an "o" so I figure it is a typographical error by whoever typed it.  The trousers are also stamp marked "E N DAUGHERTY" on the inside waistbandAs a former Marine (67-71), WW2 USMC uniforms and articles are the core of my personal collection.  I have several 1st Division Aussie made jackets and they are all uniquely different. This is a fairly heavy group of clothing so the shipping costs reflect that.  I only use PayPal for payment unless other arrangements are made before you bid.  International bidders need to understand that my shipping quote is for domestic PRIORITY delivery only.  International shipping will be quite a bit more and I ship overseas using eBay's Global Shipping Program.
