Back in the late 1960's, my mother salvaged thisstriking and uncommon Art Nouveau French figural spelter newel post lamp from amansion on Neshannock Avenue in New Castle, PA, whenall the incredible homes on that street were about to be demolished to make way for publichousing. Exquisitely sculpted female in flowing gown with torch held aloft, anvil, saw blade and blacksmithing tools at her feet. Decorated with patinatedbronze-effect finish. Leaves and flower petals are of brass with a ...similarbronze patina. Base has has a foundry badge with“FABRICATION FRANÇAISE – PARIS” and “MADE IN FRANCE” encircling a flaming cruciblelogo.Measures about 16 inches tall by 4 inches diameter at base. Has threaded rod that attached it to the top of the stair newel post. From smoke and pet free house.The fixture is in very good condition. A few barely noticeable areas of wear to the bronze patina. A 1/8 inch at the base (see lower left of 3rd photo). The electrical components may not work and may need replaced. See photos for condition.Pleasebe sure to check out our other listings.
