THIS IS A RARE VINTAGE OMEGA SPEEDMASTER "ED WHITE" WRISTWATCH.
DESCRIPTION. Going back to 1968, this was the year right before Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the very first men to walk on the moon on the 21st July 1969. By being on board the Apollo XI mission is how the Omega Speedmaster became the "Moonwatch".
This Omega speedmaster is known as the "Ed White" due to him wearing the same reference ...105.003 into space in 1965. The straight case is in good condition with normal age related wear to both case and bezel. All of its outer case back marking are clear and visible. The dial and hands are in good condition with normal age related wear. It comes with its Omega Extract from the Archives certificate.The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker. To complete this fantastic piece, we've put it on a new blue and grey nato strap.
CASE. The straight lugs case is in good condition. The case middle has been lightly polished at some point. The outer case back has some light marks around the edge. The chronograph pushers and Omega logo winding crown are all original to the watch. The bezel insert has very light age related marks. The outer case back is all correctly signed for this model Ref. 1005.003-65
The bezel is in very good condition but has been changed at some point in the 1970s as it does not have the (dot over 90) bezel. It also has its original Omega logo perspex glass. The glass has a few light marks what could be polished out.
DIAL. The original and unrestored dial and hands are in good condition with normal age related wear. The dial is signed:
Omega with the metal Omega logo above, Speedmaster, T Swiss Made T .
MOVEMENT. The high grade 17 jewels caliber 321 chronograph movement in very good condition and has been fully serviced. The movement still retains it original "dust cover" what fits in the case to protect the movement.The movement is signed:
Omega, Swiss, 17 jewels, 321 numbered 24.535.005 what dates the watch to 1967 what matches the Omega Extract from the Archives
STRAP. To finish this beautiful watch off, it comes on a new, blue and grey nato strap.
THE BOX AND PAPERS. Like most vintage wristwatches what are over 50 years old, the original certificate and box has been lost or discarded over the years. But even though this watch does not have its original box or certificate, this watch, the reference numbers, markings, signatures and hallmarks are all correct, dating the watch to circa 1967.
