ABL RAKA BELGIAN CONGO BRUSH STROKE CAMO JACKET PANTS AND HOOD 1956 PARA SMOCK
Item History & Price
They are size large or X-large. The jacket has a spec tag on the jacket that reads: "ABL RAKA 4 48/55 1956." The pants has a spec tag that reads: "ABL RAKA size 5 1956."
Both jacket, hood, and pants have good camo colors compared to others that I have seen or owned. The pants have darker camo co...lors than the jacket.
I could not find Any issues with the pants! There are No rips, holes or repairs! The pants has all of it's buttons. The pants also have their Original light green HBT fabric waist belt, and HBT ankle ties.
Here are the approximate measurements of the pants:
Waist = 19 inches or 38 inch waist.Inseam = 29.5 inchesTotal Length = 44 inches.
The Jacket is nice and has all of it's buttons. There are No rips, holes, or repairs (except some of the Para "Ape Tail" or "Crotch flap" snaps or poppers have been replaced by the Belgian Military at some point long ago) See pics.
This jacket or smock has it's hood! Most of these jackets don't have the hood.
The hem on the jacket still has it's snaps on each side to gather the jacket tighter, all of the buttons and snaps are present on the hood, and where the hood connects to the jacket (The hood snaps on and off). The hood has it's HBT string to tighten, and the waist of the jacket has it's HBT string to tighten at the waist. There are "Air vents" under the arms made on the jacket to allow air flow. There are some reinforced areas on this set (made at the factory) to strengthen certain areas like the elbows, knees, and crotch area. One of the snaps is broken and missing the female part of the snap on the front closure but the male part of the snap is still in place. see pic. The heavy duty zipper on the front closure works well, but there is some light corrosion on the zipper pull that may or may not clean off. The Jacket, hood, and pants are made of the tough Windproof cotton camo (loosely based on the Denison smock from WWII).
The snaps work so well and are so tight when snapped - I think the Paratrooper that owned this set (after making some Para jumps) found that the snaps did not come unsnapped, but rather started to pull loose from the camo fabric from use. Most of the Para snaps were replaced (expertly) on this jacket, and work well now. It is Common to find repairs on these jackets and pants...some have quite a few "zig-zag" sewn repairs ~ so this is a Nice large set that is still solidly sewn, without a lot of repairs, and you can begin wearing the set as soon as you receive it!
There are No foul odors, and there is No smell of smoke on them.
Here are the approximate measurements of the jacket:
Chest = 22 or 24 inchesShoulders = 20.5 inchesArm Length = 24 inchesTotal length = 28 inches (from shoulder to bottom hem).
I can't guarantee that this set will fit you based on my measurements. For example, I have a 46 inch chest, and the jacket fits me fine (with just a t-shirt on under it). Because of the design of these jackets, it's hard to get an exact measurement. These jackets were made to be "Roomy" to allow better movement, and to be more comfortable for the Paratrooper.
