Offered for auction and your consideration is an original WW2 US Army Air Corp C47/Glider Transport Squadron photograph and squadron patch grouping. There are 20 original period photographs depicting C47 aircraft from the 77th Troop Transport Squadron. There are 2 large stateside training photos that came in an envelope that is named to then Corpor...al Richard Lindenmoyer. Lindenmoyer, eventually became the Crew Chief/Flight Engineer of the C-47 "NO COMPRIS!" which was assigned to the 77th Troop Carrier Squadron-435th Troop Carrier Group-53rd Troop Carrier Wing. This squadron was active on D-Day +0 pulling gliders and dropping supplies and paratroopers behind enemy lines. There is a portrait studio of Lindenmoyer in uniform who eventually was promoted to Staff Sgt. There are 17 smaller period B & W photos showing some of the squadrons C47 nose art and a fuselage with painted missions which is most likely from the C-47 "No Compris!" which was the aircraft Lindenmoyer was Crew Chief/Flight Engineer of. There is a crew photo with 5 airmen which is most likely of "No Compris!'s crew-Pilot Lt. Kelly, Co, Pilot Lt. Gannon, Navigator Lt. Purifoy, Radio Operator Sgt. Austin and of course Crew Chief Sgt. Lindenmoyer. There are photos of crew members standing under the nose of the "No Compris!" and photos taken while in flight during foggy conditions...D-Day! The hand embroidered squadron patch measures approx. 5-1/4" in diameter. We believe it to be a period theater made example as it does not react to UV lighting. The last photo is of a couple of pages from this squadron's unit history showing that Lindenmoyer's C47 pulled at least one Glider during the D-Day invasion. It is also noted in the unit history that Lindenmoyer was awarded the Air Medal with Oak leaf cluster. The photo copied unit history is not offered with this grouping.
