WWII U. S. M1 Fixed Bale Helmet W/ Hawley Liner

Original WWII U.S. M1 fixed bale Helmet with Hawley liner. Just found at an estate auction today. M1 helmet in dark OD paint with period done captains bars painted on the front. Helmet rim is stainless steel. Fixed Bale chinstrap mounts with light field drab webbing chinstraps machine sewn to the bales. Helmet has three dents in the crown and shows wear. One dent to the right rear is significant. Another dent is on the left side. There is one o...ther small dent. Helmet has a hard to see stamping on the inside front but it appears to be 107D or 1070. This has a great "been there" look. Hawley liner is of the, so called, second pattern: hawley liner with OD webbing liner bands instead of the silver grey nylon type interior. Sweatband leather show age and cracking, but still somewhat flexible. Liner also has the standard liner chinstrap mounts found on later fiber liners. Liner is marked "Liner Fibre M1 G". There is wear to the rim of the front and back of the liner. Liner reflects the dents found on the steel shell. There are two separations to the very back of the liner (see photos) and some scratching of the OD covering. It is obvious that this liner has been paired with this helmet since the war-rarely encountered these days. Please see the photos and look at them closely. Helmet condition is used good. Liner shows wear, but is in very nice condition compared to most Hawley liners seen these days. Packed for shipping, this item weighs 3 pounds, 14 ounces.
