I bought this about 25 years ago at an auction and as I approached it I saw the scraped paint on the side (which I pictured) and saw the gleaming tiger stripes of the oak shining through. I'm a drawer nut so I had to have it. I started stripping the paint off the drawer fronts and as always seems to happen, you get called away and never finish that project. It's your turn! If you look at the pictures one side was never finished and there never seems to have been a top attached which le...d me to believe that this piece was the right side of a stacking file with the left side never finished because it would not have been seen. The right side and the back are paneled construction. The drab green paint made me think of a military cabinet. Maybe this came out of New Mexico holding photographs of Unidentified.... YOU KNOW WHAT'S!!! The drawers are oak faced with I'm guessing pine sides and back and a polished aluminum bottom. The bottom has the circular cut-out like other flat files for you to insert your finger under the drawer to lift a pile of documents and slide them off. There are these two swing out tabs to hold the items in the drawer from (flying away)??? It must be windy in New Mexico. I cannot figure out why there are these aluminum covers at the back of each drawer. Maybe this was for ex-rays? The drawer pulls are brass and there are little brackets to describe the contents of each drawer. Each drawer weighs 1 lb. 10 oz.'s. So, with the cabinet this monster weighs 80 to 100 lbs. The cabinet is 19 3/4" tall, 23" wide and 19 1/4" deep including the drawer pulls. The interior of each drawer is 15 7/8" front to back, 8 7/8" wide and 3/4" high. This is for local pick-up only.
