Reference Number: Avaluer:235274 |
WWII American Red Cross 2 piece nurse’s summer uniform set. This auction includes 1 Ike jacket, 1 skirt, 1 black & white photo, and 1 ARC Military Welfare Service patch.
Rare! All pieces included in the auction shown together in photo #4. (The painting displayed above the uniform in my photos is actually of her but the painting is not for sale NFS)
*We have acquired a large grouping of ARC uniforms & related items belonging to nurse Eleanora... K. Arbush who served in the Red Cross from WWII through the 1970s. Please check out the shop for other great pieces*
This is the summer version of her Ike jacket uniforms. I am also selling her winter uniform with the exact same pattern in another auction. I think perhaps she did not wear this much, as it looks hardly worn & she did not sew a patch on it. I was able to get an extra patch from her collection, so I am including it in case you want to have it put on. All her other uniforms had one of these patches sewn on the left shoulder.
Pre owned, shows general wear from military service. Overall really nice condition, well taken care of and stored properly. Faint old smell but not bad at all. Maybe needs to air out a little after being in a trunk for decades. Great pieces for any military or Red Cross collection.
Feels like lightweight wool gabardine blend, finely constructed. Jacket is lined - skirt is not. Tailor made. The pattern has some nice details.
The jacket has an attached belt that cinches at the waist. It also has the same button holes in the liner like her winter version I’m selling in another auction...the skirt has buttons they hook into so it’s sort of like suspenders. I was unable to locate the pants to this set, if indeed she was issued pants. The skirt has a button fly on the side hip.
JACKET CONDITION: Excellent. No stains, holes or moth damage. All original buttons. Slight fading to the liner in a couple areas.
SKIRT CONDITION: Great, looks hardly worn. No moth holes or damage. All original buttons. Has one area of discoloration on it - shown in pics.
