Antique 19thC Chinese Red Silk Damask Hand Embroidered Wedding Skirt
The red silk damask has Chinese symbols on it, and the hand done embroidery is floral with butterflies and other symbols.
The cotton waistband is 44" long and 5 1/4" wide. The skirt is 40" long.
There is gold metallic thread used in the borders. It appears to have lost some of its gold covering, or perhaps it was made this way.
The overall condition of this early wedding skirt is ...good. There are some stains in the upper folds of the skirt which I have photographed. My camera makes these look darker than they actually are.
The last photo is the backside of the embroidery.
