Featured in this auction is a gorgeous, antique cabinet vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in near-perfect condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There is only a trace of tiny scuff marks and light mineral staining inside from gentle use. This piece is 5-1/2" tall, 3-1/2" wide at the shoulder, and 1-3/4" wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2088... and the production year XXI (1921). This "carved-melon" shaped vase features a stunning arts-and-crafts motif of stylized leaves and berries that encircles the vase. This gorgeous glaze is a deep, matte dusty-rose or dark-pink drip underglaze with a green overspray that has beautifully curdled on the vase giving depth and texture to the design. There are glaze skips and drips; however, the piece is very clean both inside and out. Check out all 9 photos! This stunning vase exhibits great Mission design and would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector.
