Please note that the picture of the B 17 Shilaylee is not included in offer. It from the Net. Plays a role in the history of this offer. These pieces are from a man from Oklahoma who flew on the B 17 named Shilaylee. It appears this gentleman served in the 15th Air Force and then in the 3rd Air Force when he rotated stateside. L...uther Simmons.
The jacket is in good condition considering it’s advancing age, But, please understand it does have age issues.
This is not a wearable jacket unless refurbished. PLESE NOTE that both sleeves on the inward side have areas of loss of stitching or thin leather holes. This is 75 years of wear.
Size 38, the label pictured explains its origin. Cuffs are frayed. Lining is not bad.
The insignia has lost a LOT of paint. Not faded so much as paint cpuld not hold. This was done by a war time artist with the paint he had. He is one of the soldiers pictured in front of the actual Shilaylee.
Look closely at insignia and it reads Shilaylee. This was the name of the plane pictured. The crew had an artist and he doubtless customized this jacket. So, it is a rare bird.
There is a bomb on the patch. It may say OUCH. Not sure.Class A uniform is size 37R and is very good shape with medal bar that includes Purple Heart Bar and more. There is a Presidential Unit Citation And two overseas bars, Information on owner in pocket. Third Air Force Patch on sleeve and Bible in pocket. Nice propeller button on collar.
