A nice early-war CDV of Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia, prior to the partial-whitewash of its exterior walls. Libby was a Confederate prison where captured Union officers were sent to await exchange. Conditions were exceedingly poor and the prison was overcrowded. Several men are visible in the foreground in front of an army camp. On the reverse is the backmark of I. N. Teague of Lewiston, Maine. The carte measures about 4” x 2 1/2” and is in good condition with light soiling.<...br> Please see my other items for more interesting and original Civil War pieces.
