Click images to enlarge Description Rare WELTA "WELTINI" (Original PRE-WAR (1938) RANGEFINDER MODEL ) Made by WELTA WERKS Dresden Germany. Made Only in 1938. With Excellent Schneider f:2.8 Xenar 5 cm f: 2.8 Lens N° 1100533 and COMPUR-RAPID Shutter with Speeds from 1 sec. to 1/500 sec..and B. Combined Viewfinder/Rangefinder. focusing from 4 feet to inf. ( Only a Very few were exported to the U.S.!) In full Working and Superb exterior condition. The COMPUR-RAPID Shutter functions at all speeds and appears to be quite accurate. The Coupled rangefinder/viewfinder is clear and Focusing is Accurate. . There is Surrounding Yellow filter which aids in focusing in low light conditions. The Helical Focusing System is Smooth and Accurate. Externally it is in Incredible condition for its age (Over 80 years). The Satin and bright chrome has no brassing. There are no dings, dents, scratches and hardly any bright marks. The fine grained morocco covering is complete and still looks close to new. There are two shallow"zeiss bumps" on the back. The Xenar f: 2.8 5 cm. lens has no scratches or fungus or cleaning marks. The "Coupled" Rangefider/Viewfinder is clear and focusing is accurate. Film Avance and Exposure Counter work Perfectly. The genuine Leather Bellows are light tight and supple. The little "Becky" that stands the camera vertically works correctly to stand the camera.. An outstanding example of this Very Rare and beautifully designed Camera, Only a limited number were produced before production was halted at the outbreak of WWII ! A rare example with a "pre-war" Compur-Rapid shutter with "Top-Speed" of 1/500 sec.. Please view all the photos of the actual camera for condition. It is interesting to note that the WELTINI has several Very Original features: "Zone Focusing" (The entire lens unit moves and the bellows are rigid. On closing the camera the Focusing automatically returns to inf, . and the Shutter Release "Folds" into the camera. Almost All other folding camera must be manually returned to inf. The "WELTINI" is the Only camera that has the Winding and rewinding knobs on the Bottom. It is surprisingly easy to hold and wind while taking photos. Unlike its "rival" the 1939 Kodak Retina, it has "Combined Rangefinder/Viewfinder". A much more "Practical" detail. No need to "shift" the eye. Welta was a small, but Very Innovative camera maker. One of the Most Original TLR cameras, The Welta Superfekta, is also considered to be a rare collectible. In 1939 camera production was halted so both these late 1930;s cameras are Very difficult to find. Called "Weltini" because of its very small size. In fact it will fit comfortably in the hand yet weighs a hefty 1 pound 6.2 ounces! So is very steady in the hands. I should also mention that this Weltinis' Distance Scale is in Feet! Evidently intended to be imported to the U.S. Some of the cameras were imported to Italy (see ads) Photos 9 & 10. It is the Only Example I have ever seen of this model in Feet since there was an embargo on Germany soon after the start of WWII.
