Original Description:
A nice original 'Vorsatzfernrohr MG Zeileinrichtung' periscope attachment for the German MGZ34 optic sight. This optical instrument was designed & used in order to allow the gunner to get down and fire from a lower position when aiming in conjunction with a MG34/42 mounted on the heavy Lafette tripod (an extract from Folke Myrvang's "MG34 MG42 Universal MGs" (p.248) is included alongside the main item photos). This particular example has had a full exterior restoration, including an... overpaint in ordnance tan.However, the optical condition would need some attention as the periscope is currently non-functional and NO image can be seen through it. The locking screw, for attachment to the main MGZ optic, still remains in full working order. Overall, this piece is a good display example of this extremely rare MG accessory, and one which would still fit on to any MGZ34 optic.
