A fine Chinese antique baluster lidded vase standing circa 17 cm tall (13 cm tall not including the lid). The body of the vessel is decorated in underglaze blue against a white ground, with an array of white florets against a blue ground, enclosing two rectangular panels with scenes of gentleman and a boy in a fenced landscape below a pine tree, and in the other panel- perhaps the same two characters shown by a gnarled tree greeting each other. The neck of the vase ...is decorated with floral vignettes flanked by diapers, and the side of the base has another floral frieze of a different type. The lid which is decorated with florets and tendrils is surmounted by a fo lion. The work is in fine condition but for a couple of nibbles at the edge of the lid ( see last two photos). The base bears a four character reign mark relating to the 17th/18th century Kangxi emperor, however the vase probably stems from the last quarter of the 19th century.
