It is from SOUTH SHORE COUNTRY CLUB it is the SILAS H. STRAWN TROPHY 1915. Silas Strawn was USGA President from 1911-1912, this trophy is named in his honor.Silas H Strawn was a distinguished businessman. He attended law school but not college, later becoming senior partner of Winston Strawn &...; Shaw (which in 1921 had 40 attorneys). He was Chairman of the Board of Montgomery Ward & Co, president of the US Golf Association, Director of First Natl Bank of Chicago, First Union Trust & Savings, Electric Household Utilities Co, American Creosoting Co, Continental Chicago Corpo, and the Wahl Co, among others. He was President of the Chicago Bar Assn 1921-22 and President of the IL Bar Assn 1921-22. Under Coolidge, he was a Chinese trade delegate and diplomat.Silas Hardy Strawn was a prominent Chicago lawyer and one of the name partners at the law firm of Winston & Strawn. He was also the president of the United States Chamber of Commerce during the early years of the Great Depression.
