This rare vintage Chinese qipao cheongsam gold lame colorful floral print banner dress dates from the 1930s. It is handsewn made of a black silk gold lame colorful floral leaf woven pattern lame fabric with a bright orange silk fabric backing lining inside and black, orange, green silk spiral ...scrolling padded trim accents toggle closures. Manchu women wore a one-piece dress which were called "qipao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress for Chinese women. This lovely lame Art Deco Westernized style fabric Chinese cheongsam dress has a form fitting style, is a long below the knee length, with a mandarin collar, short cap sleeves, side slit vents, decorative silk toggle closures along the side and is fully lined in a orange fine silk fabric with black silk trimmed scalloped edgings. The dress measures 50 inches long, with a 32 inch bust, 28 inch waist, 36 inch hips and a 12 inch neck. It is in good condition, with only some slight soiling discoloration on the inside lining of the neck. This is truly an exceptional piece of custom made Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
