Antique Chinese Cinnabar Cut Silk Forbidden Stitch Embroidery Han Wedding Skirt This antique Chinese cinnabar cut silk forbidden stitch embroidery Han wedding skirt dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a reddish orange cinnabar color sheer summer damask weave cut silk fabric, with a lotus flower meandering pattern design. There is black silk trim edging with varying shades of blue ombre raised padded sati...n stitch and forbidden stitch Peking knot hand embroidery work with peony flowers and four of the Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune, the wheel of law, sacred vase, royal umbrella, canopy. This Han women's wedding skirt has a wrap around style, with a wide blue linen waistband, toggle knotted buttons attaching the two matching embroidered apron skirt panels together, side pleating with embroidered butterflies, flowers and is sheer, unlined. The skirt measures 37 inches long, with a 47 inch wide waist. It is in good as-is condition, with some faint fade discoloration in areas and some frayed loose black silk trim edging (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Chinese wearable art!
