Superb set of Civil War to early 1870's US Marine officer shoulder scales in gold bullion and red silk. The set displays mid to late 1860's era USMC hunting horn insignia and gothic Marine "M" inside the horn and wonderful bullion Lieutenant Colonel's insignia on red wool backing. There were very few high ranking Marines of this era. They are each stamped "HORSTMANN BROTHERS AND ALLIEN NEW YORK" and with the respective "LEFT" and "RIGHT". This mark puts them in ...the 1860's to mid 1870's. There are unfortunately no buttons, but these are no doubt US Marine. These often came with USN buttons, and you could probably find a set to fill the gap.
