This is the real deal, a Sixten Ivarsson Tanshell blast bent Dublin from 1970. While it has some aesthetic issues, the bones of the pipe are superb. While born in Sweden, Sixten is the grandfather of Danish pipes and of course his son Lars and granddaughter Nanna need no introduction. This is a middle production piece as previously noted from 1970 indicated by the nomenclature which also reveals the original price. It's a classic Sixten shape with soft lines and rocker bottom. The rim/...walls are thick and the bowl is oval shaped with an almost rectangular shank. The stem is unfortunately a replacement but very well done. While the blast has a fair amount of wear, it still shows beautiful ring grain and some birdseye. The finish has taken on a dark patina which is characteristic of old Tanshells. Restored and ready to smoke, a very rare chance at a Sixten Ivarsson and a piece of pipe history that is truly unparalleled. Pipe will be shipped with signature required and fully insured.

Condition: Good. Chamber is clean and sound and has been re-carbonized to protect against fissures. Rim has significant darkening. Blast is worn/rounded from handling and possible buffing. Stem is a replacement but in excellent condition. Nomenclature is light but mostly legible in the light. Overall in good order, cleaned and ready to smoke.
