A fabulous cast iron cigar cutter. An animated cast iron example that works by lifting and dropping the arm of the figure (his book arm) that activates the steel cutting blade inside the mans mouth.The mechanism is working fine and the as you see the figure presents in excellent complete condition, with just age appropriate surface wear to the cast iron finish. It does appear the figure is hinged at the hat to swing open a panel at the back to empty the figure of its trimmed cigar end...s. This is jammed shut currently presumably from decades of non use? I will let the buyer have a go at releasing the back panel if so desired however this is but a small distraction from a sensational original late Victorian figural cutter, standing some 19cm. No makers marks I can see? The item weighs 1.15 Kilos approx. We have listed several other pieces including jewellery, silver, decorative art and collectables.
