A very Unusual early 19th Century French Solid Bronze Figure. Depicting a Portly Hunchback Peasant in night attire, about to dispatch a Chicken whichhe is holding in one hand, with a Club he has in his other hand!
His sly expression shows a knowing gaze towards his prey!
Lovely patina gained over the years. The bronze is extremely well detailed.
He is slightly loose on the square Bronze Base which would originally have been mounted on perhapsa wooden base (which is no lon...ger present) as it has a small central hole for affixing.(Please see photos).
The subject matter is Rare for a Bronze Figure and highly desireable for the discerning collector!
