Antique Chinese Tibetan Bronze Gilt Bronze Buddha, Reign Mark, Qing Dynasty RARE
Item History & Price
OBJECT// Antique Chinese gilt bronze statue of a seated buddha on a Lotus shrine, he has a stunning serene expression and a fabulous sense of movement throughout the piece, the depth of detail and decoration is breathtaking, every section and surface has an almost painful dedication to quality and refinement, his robes are beyond the extraordinary, the crown and face have traces of pigment decoration, huge attention to detail has been taken depicted the refinement of the hands/fingers Feet/Toes, the whole surface has been dulled by a layer of dirt/incense/smoke so the the gold now glows low and warm, a rare and interesting feature to this piece is a tiny engraved calligraphy mark in front of the Buddha on the top of the Lotus base, could be a reign mark or something equally academically interesting, lovely original base plate to the base, the piece is of a good size and a weights 270 grams, this piece i have had a very long time and purchased from a dear friend and i hope it goes to a very good home, it will be missed, very important spiritual object, very much scholars taste, dating from the 18th/19th century, genuine antique object, superb colour and patina, serious collectors object.
