For action isa Springfield Model 1795 Type II Musket Stock, Barrel & Parts. The SpringfieldModel 1795 Musket Type II was a .69 caliber flintlock musket manufactured in 1814 at the Springfield Armoryin Massachusetts. It was based heavily on the Charleville musket, Model 1763. TheModel 1795 a very elongated musket, retained many of the characteristics of theCharleville on which it was based. It had a 44 ½ inches long .69 cal...iber barrel, a 56 inches stock, and a total length of 60 inches. The script"US" is marked on the left stock flat at an upward angle. The leftrear of the barrel is marked with the "P / eagle head / V. The heel of thebutt plate is marked "1814" The full straight grip stock has threebarrel bands and the long flutes approximately half the length of the comb andsteel butt plate. Included is the iron ramrod with a button end. There are some very old repairs on the combshown in the photos. The stock is verysolid and is finished with linseed oil.
