Offered here is a super rare University of Cincinnati Bearcats college football jersey used during the 1956 season. The jersey offered here has the Bearcat's legendary colors and style, with the banded sleeve stripes, and is tagged a size 40 with the Sutcliffe Sporting Goods tag from Louisville, Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati. The jersey was made by Sand Knit, who supplied many of the college football programs during the 1950s. The jersey has sewn on ...numbers on the front and back and reinforced elbows, and is made of durene. Based on my research, Walt Olszewski, a 5' 11" fullback, wore #35 in 1956 for the Bearcats, which is the season that I have dated this jersey to. Based on photographic analysis, UC wore jerseys like the one offered here during 1956, as shown in the attached photos. Note that last photo, from 1959, shows UC having added TV numbers on the shoulders. The jersey offered here predates that style change, which makes it pretty likely that it was used during the 1956 season.
