Up for the auction is a beautiful rare antique 19th c Qi'ing dynasty Chinese damask silk embroidered banner.
On a burnt red color damask silk material, finely woven with flowers, branches of blooming cherry, and geometric figures, features a court gentleman riding a mythical beast Qilin with 2 servant boys, one carrying a bowl with fruits and the other holding the gentleman's sword. The trio surrounded ...with beautiful blooming flowers.
Worked in precised satin stitches using silk threads and golden metallic threads for flowers on the board.
The banner measures 86" (219cm) x 19 2/8" (49 cm) wide.
WHAT A RARE FIND!
Condition: good / fair antique condition with no visible damages or imperfections aside some fading, light general staining and probably insignificant losses to the threads of the embroidery here and there. Otherwise very good- the embroidery is outstanding!
