Original Description:
Rare Italian wrought and braised iron key (4 inches/10ncm long) of a style called “Venetian” likely dating to 17th century Italy.  The decorative bow is typical of the best quality keys of this style with braised iron strips inserted into a circular bow.  It has a little, scalloped, hanging loop often seen on this type of key.  The bit is a good example with lots of teeth and cuts for wards in the lock.  The key is mostly in very good co...ndition – the only damage is that the stem has a few small holes near the bit – probably a mix of wear from the inside from turning the key and corrosion from the outside.  This is a rare, beautiful and very collectable key.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Postage is £2.50 UK £9.00 to continental Europe and £11.00 to the rest of the world (tracked).  If you are interested in locks, padlocks and keys please check out my other auctions.
