Original Description:
Quite rare Italian wrought and braised iron keys of a style called “Venetian”; the larger one dating probably to 17thcentury Italy and the smaller one likely not as old.  Their decorative bows are typical of keys of this style with braised iron strips inserted into a circular bow. The larger key (4.5 inch 11.5cm) has a better bow than the other two – though it is missing one leaf of iron from the bow; simple stem and bit with cuts for wards typical of the 17th ...;century.   The smaller key is about 2.75 inches long with a similar designed bow.  The bit is very simple with just a notch to match the shape of the keyhole. Both keys are in pretty good condition for keys of this type and age.   Nice and rare pair of very collectable keys. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Buyer pays shipping, £4.50 UK £11.00 to continental Europe and £13.00 to the rest of the world (tracked).  If you are interested in locks, padlocks and keys please check out my other auctions.
