Here's a nearly perfect 1910 Edison Fireside cylinder phonograph withfactory combination gearing (plays both 2 and 4 minute cylinders), a dual stylii Edison "K"reproducer (for playing all types of 2 & 4 minute cylinders, including black wax Amberols) and an original Edison No. 10 Cygnet horn. Thephonograph is original throughout (including the horn crane and crank), it works great, and it needs nothing to beenjoyed immediately. Better yet, it willarrive at your door with detailed, easy-to-understand set-up andoperating instructions so you won't have to guess what to do once you'veunpacked it.
As you can see in the photographs, the condition of the phonograph is close to mint. OriginalJapanned finish on the casting is still deep black and glossy, and the multi-colored decorations are pristine. The motor isin excellent condition, with ample torque. The governor assembly isworking properly, and the pitch doesn't waver as a cylinder playsthrough. All of the gearing beneath the bedplate is clean. The cabinet is excellent, with its original finish intact. Original cabinet decal is crisp and unscarred. All four original feet are still in place on the underside of the base.
The No. 10 Cygnet horn is original and in excellent condition, with stable original paint, prominent original details, and only scattered minor marks. Original Cygnet decal is still intact. The painted surfaces on the bell (both inside and out) are clean. Nothing has been touched up or restored.
Original Edison horn crane is likewise in excellent condition. Scattered pitting and oxidation, but much less than you typically see on original nickel cranes.
Thisis a desirable Fireside Model "A, " capable of playing all types of cylinders -- both 2 and 4 minute; wax and celluloid.
I'llinclude with the phonograph an Edison Gold Moulded 2 minute cylinder and an Edison Amberol 4-minute cylinder, so it will be ready to play as soon as it arrives.
